About Us

Academia de Línguas de Madeira (ALM) is a nonprofit association credited as a “Public Interest” institution and supported by the Regional Secretary of Education. It was founded in 1976 making it the oldest language school in Madeira Island. ALM headquarters are in Funchal, with affiliate branches in Machico, Santa Cruz, Estreito de Câmara de Lobos e Calheta.

The majority of ALM’s student body are children and teenagers, however we teach people of all ages. We have different departments for children (6 to 9 years old), juniors (10 to 13 years old) and young adults (above 13 years old). Our classroom environment is relaxed and cordial promoting a supportive space for students to thrive.

We are proud of the professionalism and kindness of our faculty and staff, who are always available to meet students and parents. Quality education has distinguished ALM as a prestigious institution.
